Joseph Baldwin Bits and Spurs Value Guide

Joseph Baldwin

Born:1807 Died:1915 Maker's Mark:
"JOS B & Co"

Joseph Baldwin originally operated a partnership with Alexander Barclay, but in 1860 they separated and each operated their own saddlery companies out of Newark. Joseph Baldwin & Co. produced and sold bits throughout the US as well as in Central and South America. They were known for the high quality of their bits and spurs which were able to rival the quality of imported English bits which were the dominant force in the early 1800s. They produced bits in the California and Mexican styles, as well as more traditional English designs and Military / Cavalry Styles. Most bits are marked “JOS B & CO”.
