Joseph R. Lamdin was born in Napa Valley, California and was living and working in San Francisco by the 1930s. He worked as a supplier for Visalia and other saddleries and produced bits and spurs that were silver overlaid monel steel. His pieces often used a shell motif that is rather unique and they are a good way to spot his pieces. Bits and spurs can be found marked with the stamp “J.R. LAMDIN MKR 833 HARRISON ST S.F. CAL”.
