Ed Klapmeier Bits and Spurs Value Guide

Ed Klapmeier

Born:1896 Died:1983 Maker's Mark:
"KLAPMEIER MILES CITY"

Ed Klapmeier was born to a German immigrant family in Nebraska and he ended up moving to ranch in Montana. It’s unclear when and how he learned bit and spur making, but it’s likely much of it was self taught because his style of work doesn’t seem to draw from many of the other powerhouse makers. Klapmeier frequently used gemstones in his work which is uncommon in most other work and he preferred overlay silver, somtimes using gold accents as well. During his life he lived in Miles City and worked for the post office while making bits and spurs in his free time. Ed marked his work “KLAPMEIER MILES CITY”.
